Name Searches:

  • Professional Search Service: One of the best genealogy sites on the Web includes search tools, dictionaries, family pages, extensive links as well as professional research services, translations, and free services such as place name lookups and translations.  Go to János Bogárdi's a.k.a. Radix site.
  • Searchable Name Directories: The Hungarian Who's Who (Ki Ki) in Hungarian or English, is another excellent resource listing names of people also researching their family history.
  • Searchable Telephone Directories: "Telephone Directories on the Web," is an online resource in Hungary to search for addresses and telephone numbers all over Hungary. Find those long-lost relatives and friends.

      - Dictionary of Hungarian Place Names. ($45.00 USD including shipping) Find all the settlements of the Hungarian Kingdom.  This is a hardcover, 1000 pages historical gazetteer of old Hungary, with 64 color, well detailed county map and contains the results (population, ethnic distribution) of the 1910 national census of Hungary.
      - Atlas and Gazetteer of Historic Hungary 1914.
      ($50.00 USD including shipping) The only atlas which represents historic Hungary in full details before its breaking up. The map sheets show 14 986 settlements as well as the hydrography, complete transportation network, castles, baths and peaks. The population density of Hungary, the ethnical and religious distribution of the people are shown in thematic maps. Published in Hungarian, English, German, Croatian, Romanian and Slovak.
      - CD-ROM: Castles, Courts and Legends of historical Hungary.
